Opportunities for young talent as common denominator

Effective January 1, 2024, WILVO Group has committed to TWC De Kempen as the main sponsor. The cycling club, founded in 1947 and thus one of the oldest cycling clubs in the Netherlands, will continue as WILVO Group | TWC De Kempen with immediate effect.

Club in motion

TWC De Kempen can rightly be called a club that is in full swing. Where many other regional cycling clubs are struggling, TWC De Kempen is doing well. Thus, during the team presentation in February of this year, the club managed to present not only WILVO Group as the new main sponsor, but also a large number of other new sponsors. In addition, the team budget has been quadrupled, the technical staff expanded and two brand new “team cars” are ready. For the riders there are new clothes, sports bags and bicycle helmets. After all, cycling -more than ever- is also about appearance.

32 elite riders

The team consists of as many as 32 elite riders and U23s, competing in the Topcompetition, the U23 Road Series, regional criteriums and a number of stage races, among others.

A beautiful match

That WILVO Group commits itself as main sponsor for a period of 4 years is not without reason: sportsmanship, health and vitality are important values for the employer brand ‘WILVO Group’. In addition, TWC De Kempen and WILVO Group share the same vision when it comes to ‘opportunities for young talent’. Because when you give young people the chance to grow to a higher level, everyone ultimately benefits. WILVO Group as a company and TWC De Kempen as a sports team.

“WILVO Group is not only a great main sponsor for TWC De Kempen in terms of name and image, but certainly also in a financial sense. In any case, the sponsorship amounts are higher than we have been used to in recent years. A regional club like TWC De Kempen has a lot of ambition and wants to deliver top performances in addition to the broad sport. To achieve that, stage races are indispensable. This is where hardness and condition are built up. Big shortcoming: riding these kind of races costs a lot of money and is hardly affordable for a club with a small sponsor.

TWC De Kempen is a great cycling club that has been around for 77 years. Traditionally we have delivered good riders and national champions in all categories. So we stand for top sport, but also fulfill a social function: getting the youth to exercise. We do this in an enthusiastic way with the help of many volunteers. Because volunteers are, besides financial resources, the most important thing in the existence of a (cycling) association.

TWC De Kempen is now among the best 5 clubs in the Netherlands, and then we are still somewhat modest. This year we have our cards set on the Dutch Championship for Elite without a contract. Last season our best man punctured a few kilometers before the end while he was in the leading group. He missed out on a certain medal and maybe even the title. That too is top sport. In addition, our riders will shine in the regional criteriums. Last season we won in Westerhoven and Hapert. But we were also on the podium in Bergeijk and Riethoven. We want to at least match these achievements. In any case, we started the season well, because at the end of April Mathijs Loman won the race in Simpelveld. So we have already achieved one of our season goals: win at least one race in the club competition. So our beautiful new outfits are not only beautiful, but also an omen of sporting success.”
