Intensive Training and Support

At Van Den Broek, Jirki received all the support he needed to prepare optimally. From technical training to the latest tools and the guidance of mentor Rob van Herk through this, Jirki got the edge he needed. “It’s similar to the Olympics: every mistake is costly,” he said.

The Contest in Lyon

In Lyon, Jirki had to show his precision and perseverance during four intense days of competition. Despite some setbacks in the middle, he remained focused. The highlight took place at the Holland House with the well-known orange craze. It was a moment of relief and joy when all the Dutch participants had completed their competitions. The closing ceremony and awards ceremony brought countries from all over the world together in a festive ceremony where the winners were given a well-deserved stage.

The level difference was impressive and a tad confronting,” said Jirki, who finished 17th out of 27 participants.

Experience and Future

Participating in the WorldSkills further strengthened Jirki’s passion for CNC milling and taught him valuable lessons in stress management and perseverance. He looks back on this unique journey with pride and is ready to share his knowledge with new talent within Van Den Broek and WILVO Group.
